Installation of a 6mm epoxy mortar screed in production areas and corridors for an industrial aerospace component manufacturer.
Upgrade sealed but dusty and difficult to clean old concrete floors with a permanent overlayment.
What Did the Customer Want to Achieve?
- A smooth running surface capable of withstanding heavy forklift and pallet mover traffic.
- An easy to clean, low maintenance surface which was non-slip; coved corridors were also required for increased cleanability and high aesthetics.
- The repair and reinstatement of access staircases which had become worn and damaged.
- The work to be carried out in a one-week shutdown period and all products used to be very low odour.
- Other essential trades to work simultaneously in the area.
Stonhard Single Source Solution
- All areas cleared of equipment (by customer).
- Existing surfaces mechanically prepared with dust control captive shotblast.
- Cracks in the existing concrete treated with Stonproof CT5 fibreglass to minimize joints.
- Stonclad GS 6mm epoxy mortar sealed with Stonkote GS4 with texture 2 to be hand and power trowelled to all floor surfaces, coves and steps.
Work completed in five days - customer requirements all met!
