Meat Preparation
Refreshing and refurbishing a 12-year-old Stonshield HRI floor in a very busy major supermarket butchery and meat packaging department.
The floors and coves, whilst still functioning very well, had redundant machinery fixings screwed to the floor which needed removing and some modifications to the wall/chiller layout required attention. Some floor drains also required modification.
What Did the Customer Want to Achieve?
The areas are very visually accessible to the general public so the customer required:
- A highly aesthetically pleasing finish to enhance the professional image of the facility.
- A non-slip floor for his staff.
- Easy clean hygienic surfaces which would give him the proven performance he had come to expect from the original Stonhard installation.
- Reinstatement of coves and resealing of drains.
Stonhard Single Source Solution
- Lightly sand the existing 5mm Stonshield HRI epoxy mortar floor and coves to provide a key.
- Repair damaged coves with Stonshield HRI cove base to exactly match the floor colour. Skim all other coves with cove base.
- Prime all floor areas with Stonshield Undercoat and broadcast decorative aggregate into this primer. Allow to cure 6-8 hours.
- Sweep off excess sand and seal with Stonshield Sealer.
- Reseal around all drains with Stonflex MP7 joint sealant in a colour to complement the floor.
- Use only products which are 100% solids to avoid any problems with taint and to allow meat cutting and packing to continue and to allow the supermarket to open as normal.
- Complete the work in less than four days to minimize disruption.
