Stonhard Successfully Attacks Wasteful Packaging

Stonhard Successfully Attacks Wasteful Packaging Packaging of chemical products has been a hot topic for discussion for many years. The two main issues are the cost of packaging and, much more importantly, the disposal of chemical waste and other packaging in an environmentally friendly way.

Stonhard now leads the world in successfully addressing these issues by investing several million pounds in developing low cost plastic and foil pouch packaging for all their mainline epoxy products.

Stonhard now delivers products to site on recyclable wooden pallets. The sands are packaged in paper or thin recyclable polythene bags.

The resins are packaged in small pre-measured amounts in thin plastic or foil pouches. A fixed number of Part A and Part B resins are packaged together in recyclable cardboard boxes. Using a bag squeezer, very little chemical residue is left in the pouches which are disposed of in chemical drums. The quantity of waste generated with this packaging (rather than conventional plastic drums) is very small.

So it’s a “win win” situation!

Most of the packaging is recyclable and the direct and environmental cost of pouches and disposal of pouches is much less than conventional packaging.
