ARE YOUR FLOORS POSING A RISK?
The floors at your production plant or process area are under constant pressure, having to withstand the daily footfall, support heavy machinery and protect your environment from any chemicals or bi-products created during a manufacturing process. Are you doing everything to ensure your floors meet legal obligation to provide a safe work environment for your employees?
FOUR SIGNS OF YOUR FLOORS DETERIORATING
Over time, concrete floors tend to begin to naturally deteriorate. If you spot any of the signs below, it's time to act.
1) Cracks appearing in your floors. Eroded concrete is notoriously difficult to clean as crevices provide a great breeding ground for harmful bacteria. Delay the treatment and you may soon be dealing with sanitation issues.
2) Puddles and pools appearing equals accident ready to happen. A simple slip in the workplace resulting in a broken leg can end up in a compensation claim of up to £20,000, before taking into account lost productivity and management time. Can you afford such a costly mistake?
3) Floor markings not visible any more. Work hazards are everywhere, from heavy moving machinery to dangerous chemicals. If you do not protect your employees by clearly marking out walking pathways and no-go zones you are exposing yourself to a potentially very costly risk.
4) Slippery areas often occur in the areas with heavy footfall, such as entry points. Are these areas treated with anti-slip coatings to prevent accidents.
